The oval case opens to reveal a separate round pan filled with Vespertina solid natural perfume. When snapped shut, the front of the compact contains a tapestry pattern. These compacts are made in the USA from molds that go back to the 1940's. Each one has been plated with a special finish to create an antique quality. No lead or nickel have been utilized. The brass compact is placed in a burgundy pouch within a purple box. There is approximately 5.3 grams or 0.186 ounces of natural perfume by weight, sometimes quite a bit more. The case measures 1-5/8" diameter x 1/2" deep. The solid perfume is poured into a separate coated aluminum pan, this ensures lasting performance of this pure, natural perfume and the option to replace with a fresh tin when all used up. Like wine, the vintage gets better with age, if stored away from light and heat.
This is one of the higher priced editions of Vespertina due to the packaging. A simple format round tin is available here.
