For those who want to immerse themselves more deeply in the art and practice of botanical perfume, I am offering a special three-part course of study combining the Art of Botanical Perfume Online Course with two full days of in-person instruction at the Illuminated Perfume studio in Santa Fe.

PART ONE — ONLINE STUDY

Art of Botanical Perfume Online Course

Begin—or deepen your foundation—with my comprehensive seven-module online course.

The course includes lifetime access to the complete curriculum and a 27-material botanical perfume kit, allowing you to work with the materials at home as you move through the lessons.

You will explore the history and artistry of botanical perfume, develop your olfactory awareness, learn about botanical perfume materials and fragrance families, and begin working with the principles of orchestration and composition.

PART TWO — ART OF BOTANICAL PERFUME

Saturday, October 24 • 10am–5pm

Come into the studio for a full day of hands-on exploration.

Working together with a curated palette of botanical essences, we will explore the foundations of botanical perfume composition and create an original nine-note perfume.

This intimate, sensory experience brings the ideas from the online course into the physical world of smelling, blending, evaluating and refining a perfume.

PART THREE — CHORDS & FRAGRANCE FAMILIES

Sunday, October 25 • 10am–5pm

On the second day, we move deeper into the vocabulary and architecture of perfume.

We will explore how individual botanical materials interact to create chords, how olfactive families relate to one another, and how chords can become the building blocks of larger perfume compositions.

We will work with eight fragrance families and explore traditional perfume types including Chypre, Fougère, Floral, Green, Leather and the historical category of Oriental.

This is an intermediate workshop and is offered only occasionally.

THREE WAYS OF LEARNING

The online course gives you time to study and revisit the material at your own pace.

Saturday gives you time to work directly with botanical materials and create your own perfume.

Sunday gives you time to explore composition more deeply—to understand relationships between materials and begin thinking in chords, facets and structures.

Together, these experiences form a more complete study of botanical perfume: from materials and vocabulary, to perfume creation, to composition and architecture.

For the live workshops, please arrive free of perfume, fragranced lotions, strongly scented hair products and scented laundry products. We need to keep our olfactory palettes as clear as possible for this intensive work.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Because of the planning and preparation required for live classes and workshops, registrations are not refundable. If you are unable to attend, your payment may be applied as a credit toward another class, course or workshop of the same type.

We recommend purchasing travel or event insurance if appropriate.
